Nanocube 12g Smoking ballast HELP!
Hi all,
I have a 12g Nano DX with a brand new ballast. The original ballast stopped working a couple weeks ago. The cube is a few years old so I figured that it happens. I purchased a new JBJ ballast made for the cube and hooked it up. Once I plugged in the ballast the little capacitor thing on the inside began to smoke. The PC lights came on for about two seconds then the fuse blew. I opened up the hood and cleaned some salt build-up inside and made sure no wires were worn and touching bare. I saw no burn marks or any possible shorts. I replaced the fuse and tried the ballast again, this time the bulbs and fans didn't turn on but the little capacitor began to smoke again. Needless to say I unplugged it and am looking for a reason why this is happening. Does anyone on here have experience with this sort of issue? Any ideas on what I can do to try to repair this? I already paid for the ballast and can't just get an new cube. (not made of monies ) ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! Thanks |

Your ballast is DOA (dead on arrival). You should be able to exchange it from where you bought it?
