SWC160/200 for SPS/Vodka Tank

Right now Im torn between 2 deals for either an SWC 160 or 200. The 160 is coming from the US, im in Canada, for 190 and im expecting a little brokerage, while the 200 is a local deal for 200.

I only have a 65g DT, but I have 100g of water in the system, will be dosing vodka for a mainly sps tank and will likely be upsizing the DT in a year or so (maybe to around 120g max).

My question is would the 200 still be too much overkill? The 160 has the Sicce2500 pump w/purple PW, so Im expecting a small performance boost. Oh, both skimmers are the cylindrical line. Thanks!

51 views and no reply. Surely there's opinions out there.

Bump.

Go with the 200 if you plan to up the DT in 1 year or so.

I run a SWC 200 with mesh wheel on my 70 gal, works great. With my sump I'm at about 100 gals as well. Main thing to keep in mind is to make sure your skimmer compartment is large enough and you have 8 -10 water depth.

I have the 10" depth but i would have to reconfigure the sump. Not impossible, but still a PITA. I went with the 160 and will likely go with the red demon pinwheel for the extra flow/startup ease. Ill do a quick review when it gets here (in a week, EEEK). Looks like an extra WC or 2 until then.

the red demon wheel with be too much air for that body if it is the older style with the sicce 2500 and so is the purple wheel, the body just cant handle the amount of air

The body can probably handle the amount of air its just that the pump doesn't pull enough water(gph) to efficiently use the extra air.

Older style? Are you referring to the cylinder vs cone designs?

Would a recirc mod contribute any to the efficiency? While its mostly water thats already entered the skimmer it would increase the water passing through the chamber. On the other hand is it still limited by the overall "dirty" water pumped through by the Sicce?

This leads me to my next question: Would the extended neck offered by SWC better improve results?
