went to my lfs today and was shocked

There was a fish lying completely still at the bottom of the tank. At first I thought it was dead, but its eyes were moving. I asked the guy in charge and he said no its not dead, that is just the way it is. It was a pinky coloured fish quite small in size. Was there something wrong with the fish or is there a type of fish that actually does this?
