Adding dead rock to established tank?

Hello all, I have some old rock that has been sitting dry in buckets for about 10 months. My reef has been established for nearly 2 years now, but I am getting the itch to do some re-aquascaping. Would it be at all detrimental if I added a few pieces of this dead rock to spice things up?

Just be sure to rinse off the rock (you can use tap water).

Actually it might even be beneficial because the bacteria can grow on that rock too so then it would become "live". At least I think it would...
