Hqi lighting help
I have a 120 gal mixed reef tank. I was looking into buying coralife pro 48 inch aqualight pro halide 150 watts. Is coralife a dependable light??? What is a good brand for all in fixture. I need something thats affordable too. Also I have read that the bulbs that coralife comes with isn't so good. What is a good bulb that my corals will love. I was also thinking about changing the compacts to 50/50. Thanks for your time.

With the depth of a 120 I'd recommend 250w halides if you want to go that way. Coralife lights are on the cheap end (price and quality).
Have you looked at an 8 bulb ATI T5ho fixture?

I went with Sun light supply for fixtures, and ended up with Galaxy Ballasts because they were plug and play. But these are pendents fixtures so probably doesnt apply if your looking for one fixture.

I had used a Coralife Aqualight Pro and it wasnt a bad unit at all IMO. It worked well.
For a 120g mixed reef, 2 x 150 watt may be a little low. I would suggest the 2 x 250 watt if you could get that. If you do go with the 2 x 150 watt, then consider a 10K bulb which generally is brighter and has higher PAR ratings. Ushio makes a good 10K 150w IMO. If you do go with 10K, then try the dual blue compact fluorescent lamps. Those work well at supplimenting 10K halides. |

i would suggest a sunlight supply maristar with 2 250w hallides and two 54w t5ho that way it is the best of both worlds, its a little bit more but your getting a much better light
