Please identify this white/brown fuzz algae

Started this tank about 6 weeks ago. Used totally dead rock, so there is no way it could be a hitchhiker. Never seen it before and i thought i had seen every kind of algae known to man. I had biopellets on the tank and took them off because my skimmer would not work with them and the bacterial cloud would not go away. any clues ?!?!?!?!?

seemed like this appeared the same time as the diatoms, but won't go away

also getting a staggering amount of pineapples sponges. you can see a few small ones in the pic, they are getting covered by this white/brown fuzzy stuff too

Looks like a type of bacteria,I get the same thing in my 12 gallon nano, because I don't have any live rock in there.Get some good live rock to seed your dead rock and do a couple of water changes to help clear it up.

I also think it's bacteria..

I am hesitant to put any live rock in there because i want to avoid any type of hitchhiker algae or pest this time
Will it go away in time if i don't seed it?

Any updates?

I have had the same type stuff for many months. Kinda annoying but never seems to bother anything, other than me.

It utterly does not care about nutrient or lack thereof. I went from having six fish in my 29g to having none - totally whooped my cyano! - but this stuff was unaffected. Bacteria dosing also had no effect.

I've just come to accept it. :/

Hence the reason why you ONLY purchase live rock from a reputable LFS.

Is that definitely a different stuff than what you had before?

What kind of corals do you have, and how did they handle the three-day lights out?

Yes, it is different.

The only thing bothered by the lights out was SPS, but it returned to color in a few weeks.

after the first lights out months ago, the original stuff was completely wiped out. Lights out had no effect on the new stuff
