92 Corner Lighting Suggestions
I have a 92 bow front aquarium that i am trying to light as a reef tank. There is nothing over the tank so hanging is not an issue.
I am running a 25 gallon 2' diameter sump with an ASM G2 skimmer with a sedra 900 pump. I am not new to the hobby but new to a reef system. I have had FOWLR setups in the past. My LFS suggested two 250 watt halides. What I am asking is what have people done in the past. Thanks for the forum and thanks for letting me play in your water filled sand box. |

While I'm not a lighting guru by any means, it would be helpful if you could share with us what you plan on or what you'd like to keep in the tank. Lighting suggestions for a softies tank would be much different than lighting for SPS.

I keep 2 clams, mostly LPS and a couple SPS in my 92 G with one Lumenbright pendant with a 250w bulb. I like this pendant as its an octagon shaped pendant which I feel makes lighting the circular tank easier. For SPS dominated tank, you may want a 400w setup.

An MH pendant seems to work best in square/corner setups. A good reflector can light a 2 foot by 2 foot area. If you're 20" and under, a 250W would be sufficient for most SPS. Above that a 400W will allow you to put SPS lower in the tank.

Thanks for the replays guys. I am leaning towards 2 250 Watt pendants 1200k and a t5 down the middle for color for the first year so things grow. I am mainly looking for ideas.
My issue with the leds is how deep theywiil penetrate. This tank is 24in deep. The cost also to be pretty steep also and with the big patent war on I think I will wait a fee years and see what happens. I willpost pics of my setup in the corner thread when I fibre which way I decide to go. |
