adding baffle
I need to add or re put in a baffle in my sump that is already running. I am thinking I need to shut it all down and drain my sump as much as I can then exopy in the baffle. Is there a easier way? I have epoxy that will set up under water, but holding the baffle up straight would be the problem there. Any suggestions?

You can use a hot glue gun just to hold it in place while you apply the real glue.

Take pictures and let us know the outcome, so when I have to do the same, I'll have someone else's take on it. :-)

If you can't take the water out of the sump, use magnets. You'll need quite a few to secure the baffle but it should work. Get some neodymium magnets, epoxy coated for the inside and bare ones for the outside, place them on the sump to form a framework on the front and back of the baffle and you're done. You'll need 8 or each type to make it work. You can buy bare magnets and dip them yourself to save a little dough.

Yeah, magnets work great. Some of them have grip strength of 20+ lbs. You won't need that much. Maybe something in the 12-15lb range depending on what you're doing with the baffle. Just make sure that you buy epoxy magnets or dip them yourself for use underwater. Bare magnets will corrode, leach metals into your tank, and deteriorate if kept in saltwater.
