Foam under tank??

Im gonna be building my own stand and its gonna have a closed top. I will be placing a 220g AGA tank on the stand. Do I need to put any type of foam under the tank? and if I do what kind or type. I have seem people that put different types of foams under their tank but Im not sure of the purpose of it

If the Tank has a rim then no. If it is a rimless tank then yes.

One should never put anything under a rimmed tank, except wood. The bottom pane of glass is supported by the bottom brace.

Ok, so what if the tank is rimless? I ask because I have a 120 that I'm about to be setting up and I have this same question. Thanks.

If the tank is rimless,I would use 1/2'' or 5/8'' foam padding.

you should put a layer of foam under non-rimmed tanks.
