Cyano overtaking Chaeto
I've had a some cyano in overflow to my hang on fuge for a while now but recently its spread to cover my Chaeto and seems to be killing it. Tank parameters are relatively normal. I think the cyano is feeding on phyto that I have been dosing recently.
SG 1.026 temp 78 cal 440 alk 7 - hadnt tested all week, working on getting this up a bit mag 1420 What should I do? maybe remove some of the cheato with the cyano and just get some new macro? Could it be the light I have over the fuge? Its just some used clip on light I got with it from the previous owner but the chaeto has thrived under it until the last 2 weeks.

Cyano tends to grow in low/poor light conditions as well as low flow areas. If you can increase the flow and better lighting you'll be able to get a handle on it, now that it's spreading to the tank it may be harder to get rid of it because it will head for the dark spots of the tank.

Luckily it is not spreading to the tank. At least not yet just seems to be taking over my hang on fuge. I don't have a great option to increase the flow but I can clean the powerhead and see if it helps a little.

||Take the chaeto out and give it a rinse, in some fresh water. Then clean out your fuge getting as much cyano out as opossible. If you can get a bigger power head in your fuge.

I had that same problem so I finally got rid of the chaeto. I had two bouts with cyano and finally got rid of it in my display but still growing in the sump.
I got rid of chaeto and cleaned the sump. No problems with cyano since.
