QT questions

I am very new to reefing, but I just purchased a CUC from Reefcleaners.org.

Would there be any reason to QT these snails etc? I feel like without a fish in the QT tank with them for a few weeks, I wouldn't even notice any harmful parasites.

I was planning on just float acclimating and then putting into my DT (55 gal with lawnmower blenny and orange firefish) had a peppermint, emerald crab, and sally lightfoot cleaning the tank previously (not to mention the sally got pretty big pretty quick).

IF there is any chance of ich in with them, then your fish will get it. It can be carried in on the water and cysts on their shells. Me, I'd QT. Better safe then sorry, specially if you've ever dealt with trying to get your fish out.

So you are saying QT the snails, and put a random fish in the QT tank with them to see if they develop ich?

I was advised to QT them also, just don't see how a tank full of snails will point to anything bad.

I'm one of those people that basically never QTs, except for certain susceptible fish (tangs mainly). Generally the QT environment is more stressful than the main tank.

No I say QT everything. Fish, inverts, corals, everything. If one snail has a cyst then you tank gets infected. If your coral has aptasia, easier to treat in QT then messing with flow in your whole tank. Once you get live rock, corals, nems, and whatever else it becomes a pain trying g to get fish put to treat. Smell don't QT and feed heavy with garlic. I prefer to have a disease Frasier tank if at all possible.
