did you watch the video on bulkreefsupply? it seems like it would take more effort than a regular test kit.

Yeah, the alk test is the easiest one and the most accurate. I don't know why I'd want to reinvent that wheel.. after Kim taught me what color change to look for. It's one of the only numbers that comes back the same between lab testing and my Elos kit.

i started using a white ceramic sake glass instead of the clear vial, it makes it super easy to swirl and see the color change.

It made sense to me. You have light and look down into it. It gives you a "true" white background instead of having the color on the other side of the vial influence what color you see. I have to go to the hallway with a bright overhead light and a white door in the background to stand a chance of using test kits.

I think what Ron meant is the Sake container is white so you have a back ground instead of the clear vial.
I have to use a white piece of paper on my fridge.
I have the HC 713 PO4 checker after using it a few time's it get's easy
The way she did it in the video aint how I do it I use 2 vial's one with just water to zero meter than one with reagant to get my result's.
I'm going to try it after 100 test if I don't like it I will go back to ELOS.
I wish Pinpoint would come out with a meter now that would make it really easy lol

I received mine on Wednesday from a September 17th pre-order. This is my first Hanna Checker so I am not sure what I was expecting but I am not entirely impressed with the quality of the device for $50 with next to no reagents. The two vials that came with my unit both leak no matter how tight you put the lids on and it doesn't close and latch with a vial inside the unit. I also cannot follow the instructions of inverting the checker before finalizing the test because the vials leak. I purchased 50 reagents (even though they only sent 25 and acted like I was a liar when I reported the shortage) so I will be using this for a while and give it a solid chance.

Good thread on Hanna ALK tester. I linked Page 3 since there is a good comparison using 4 different test kits, but worth starting on Page 1.

Thanks Kenny just got done reading the thread and also the review.
My concern with any testing is to use the same kit ie: Salifert/API/ELOS.
I think for what we are after its about consistency.
I have had good consistency using ELOS but this device seem's to be acurate enough for me so I will give it a try and also test with ELOS just to see how much variance is between the two.

I have the alk checker. It takes far too long to do a test. And also it's not accurate. I'd recommend sticking with your liquid test kits. Might wanna read this thread.
