grape algea competing with chaeto?

about 2 weeks ago i purchased some chaeto from PA and when i got it it was a ball of chaeto with some grape algea tangled in it. the chaeto now is still growing but some of the tips at the top are becoming clear while the grape algea has SKYROCKETED and is now starting to grow out of the chaeto? is this a battle for nutrients or is this jus a normal thing.

the grape algae grows fast, I have read that it is best to have just chaeto. I had to pick out all the grape and caulerpa algae out of my cheato to really allow it to grow. I don't know if it is a battle for nutrients for sure, but seemed so in my case.

it might be be a battle of battle of trace nutrients in your water.. how often do you water changes? alot of times you might have plenty of nitrite/nratites but maybe lacking the key iron macro nute.. I picked up a bottle a bottle of kents trace nutes and added a drop per 10 gallons becuse i think its pretty strong myself and the fact i had a cyno explosion when i used it.. at 1ml per 10g i now just use it 1 drop per 1 10g my macro seems green and reall healthy..

But it could also be competiton as well.. one might be beating out the other due to other conditons and able to absorbe phospates better that the other or other things int he tank better as well
