bio load
Ok so I have a 180g and I'm soon to be the owner of a new bta,and I was wondering what kind of extra biolaod it will add? I have 1 yellow tang, mandrin, maroon clown, cleaner and coral banded,6line wrasse and 4 damsels(the ones I couldn't catch) sally lightfoot crab, snails and hermits.I do have a skimmer.so I was wondering if there is anything I. Need to watch for when I get the bta?besides keep an eye on my nitrates?

Besides good lights and filtration, maybe good water flow too.... But just the addition of a BTA in a 180g won't add that much of a bio load.

Anenomes themselves don't add to the bioload, their waste does and can vary based on regularity and type of food......just make sure its fed to do that in the first place....otherwise,with that size of tank your fine.
Lighting is the main thing that people have problems with. What kind do you have currently? Here are some older, yet good articles I like on the subject: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/btanemmarcq.htm http://www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/in...ipanemones.htm RC anenome and clownfish subforum for more research: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36

Lighting for a BTA and Carpet Anemone??
I just bought a T5 Retrofit kit for the canopy on my 120 gallon tank. It has 2 10,000K lights and 2 Actinic 03 Blue 65 watt lights. I have a Carpet Anemone in the far left corner and a Bubble Tip Anemone in the far right corner. I have heard that most newbies don't have sufficient lighting for Nems. I am a pilot that flies commercial jets with 2 engines, 3 hydraulic systems and backups for the backups. I'm not into wasting money but I don't want to just "skim by" on the smallest amount of $$ that will be JUST good enough. Is my T5 light system okay for the Nems? I was told by the LFS to use the Actinics for 3 hours a day in the morning and then 5 hours of the 10,000K bulbs. Any comments?

I am guessing they are PC lights not T5's as they are 65 watt bulbs

There are TONS of stories, and people will most likely chime in that they kept anenome with nothing more than a Bic lighter and a glowstick for light, split daily...etc....it's better to err on the side of conserative...especially in the NTTH forum.
I agree with lordofthereef, your probably on the ragged edge chuckdallas. Keep up on your maintenance and husbandry while home....because reef tanks on "autopilot" are aimed straight down to the ground. To the OP, you should be alright....even then make sure both of you feed them. I suggest PE MYSIS shrimp, turning off the flow for a bit so it doesn't blow away.

The bioload of a BTA is neglible, unless you're feeding it often. Mine is about 8" and I feed it every 1-2 weeks.
