Cycling live rock

If I put in Nitrifying Bacteria where they sold in bottles, would the process speed up so to get my rocks cure faster? Thanks

IMO that stuff is a waste of money, how long could the bacteria really live sitting on a shelf in a sealed bottle.

just take your time and let the cycle run it's course. if you try to hurry things only get worse in this hobby.

yeah if it was live, but won't speed it up real fast.

why are you in a hurry?

It will not hurt anything, but chances of it shortening the cycle are slim. If you value your time more than money, give it a go. I would not expect it to help, but you may get lucky. Try to get the freshest bottle in stock.

I was going to use that stuff, but my experience using that to cycle freshwater tanks in the past was it is a waste of time...
if the rock is LIVE, then it has some nitrifying bacteria on it. I got live rock that had been sitting in a styrofoam ice chest, and the guy kept it damp with tap water...
Brought it home, dropped it in a rubbermaid tub of saltwater, came out 2 days later to find the pump had failed and the water was 140 degrees!
dropped another pump in and did a 100% water change on it, and within a week it had cycled.
I figured it was pretty dead after the way it was when I had gotten it and the whole soup incident LOL. It's been in my tank for 9 days now, and as of friday (6 days) it already had Coralline Algae, and as of Sunday (8 days) I had a sponge pop up. Tank itself cycled in 2 days!
