Yes, the way it works is the the BLUE LEDS is a outlet, the WHITE another so you can control the profiles separately. I'll get you a screen shot shortly, let me dig one up.

The Super BLUE only exposes 2 channels; the whites as 1 and the blue as a second; there isn't a 3rd channel for the extre blue; they are all controlled as 1.

This is screen showing how the outlets appear; the VDM has 4 variable speed ports (for Tunze, lights, etc) + 1 connection to the AI but through that 1 connection you control everything.

That only answers part of the question.

Is is going to support the new SOL Blue that has 3 different channels. One for white, one for blue, and one for royal blue?

The AI SOL Blue only has 2 channels. The Blue and Royal blue are combined in a single channel and are not individually controllable. I'm Looking forward to getting my SOL Blue Upgrade this week, and to the release of the VDM

Incorrect

At MACNA the AI reps told me that they have 3 channels not 2.

Each of the blues are controllable seperately. I know because after that I went over to Curt to ask him about the controllability of the three. And he was not aware of the three channels yet.

I don't know about what the rep said but the blues both turn on with 1 blue command so they appear to be tied together and not separate channels. I have the SOL Blue unit over my tank and am very sure the blues work as 1.

I just submitted a support ticket to find out when it will be available.

I think that units that they had at MACNA were the three channel versions.

Dark_Reef, I don't think this is correct.

It sounds like the salesperson you spoke with had their wires crossed. (happened to another regarding the 70 degree optics on the SOL Blue.) I played with the SOL Blue unit AI had over the display tank at MACNA and can confirm it had 2 channels. I also spoke directly with Chris as I wanted to know more about how the VDM integration would work.

I also learned that until AI releases new firmware, SOL White owners that upgrade to SOL blues will have the blue and white settings reversed on the controller. Not a big deal, in fact I rec'd my SOL Blue pucks today...

C2 told me today that only 2 channels today, but through a software update it will be possible in the near future. I hope Curt incorporates it in a future update, as well.

Pics.

Something is up. Based on what I was told and your picture of the pucks it looks like 3 channels are prewired. My understanding from the guys at MANCA is that it will be a simple firmware update, that seems a bit simple but entirely possible.

Do you have any pics of the wiring of the boards inside the unit?

I am still waiting for support to contact me. I will let you know.

Got it straight.

Here is what I got back from George at Reefgeek. He got the info directly from C2.

"Jeremy

Confirmed from AI themselves..

YES, it is DEFINITELY in the PLANS to be able to control all 3 separately…. Via the FIRMWARE UPDATE.

Availability of the new software is about “a month or two”… lets say TWO jeremy.

Thanks for your patience Jeremy…

I will be sure to keep you posted with any updated info from AI.

Best of luck on the forums, and if needed, tell em that “cuz reefgeek George said so” and then I can take all of the heat and gripes away from you….

Take care jeremy…and thanks again for your patience."
