Maintenance problem/fish stressed
Hello everyone! Have had my 28g. nano up for several months now,, continuing to stock with corals and a few fish. I have had a problem with what I believe is hair algae the past couple of months, and mainly have just pulled it off, as much as I could, every few weeks. My water parameters are PERFECT! I am using well water, have a RO unit but not hooked up as of yet. So, prior to putting in a new order of corals today, I pulled the hair algae real well.....and within an hour of doing so, my fish were really looking stressed, and I lost a pygmy angel I had just put in last week. My firefish has gone into hiding, which it usually does late afternoon,....my clowns were stressed by seem to coming around. My question is,....could pulling all of that algae have released something toxic into the water? I immediately checked the water , it is checking out perfect in ph, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia......and ideas? Thanks in advance.

in my experience always provide lots of hiding places and also too many fish will stress them out too....and for the hair algae get a "lawnmower blenny" that think will make you live rock sparkle... but get a small one to get in the smaller portions.....

If you have hair algae , you have nitrogen and phosphorous . The algae are grabbing them up and they won't show up on tests.
Stirrning up the tank may have released something or there may have been something on your hands.. More likely there is an outbreak of a pathogen. Do you quarantine your fish? Have you added new fish lately.
