Anyone mount their vortechs on the back?
Does anyone mount their vortechs on the back glass? Was looking for some feedback because this is what I want to do.

I do
![]() When I turn off everything but the MP40, I still get great flow and all the corals throughout the tank have great movement. Originally I wanted one on each side but I think I may stick with the one center rear mount. Of course I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I have two rock islands with the MP40 in b/t them which really helps the flow get all over the tank. |

RVANANO, that sounds similiar to how I'm thinking about doing it. My tank is a 100 long 72"x18"x17". The only difference is, I want my return from the sump in the middle and have two vortechs on either side. The tank is shallow and only 18" wide. I am having alot of trouble deciding to go with either two MP10's or two MP40's. I really think two MP40's would be overkill. It's going to be a mixed reef.

I have a 57 gallon rimless with 2 MP20's on the back. I think I loose some flow since they are not blowing water the length of the tank but I really think it looks better.

I tried it on my 90g.
The flow was too direct that way & caused all of my substrate to blow away (for lack of a more fitting term), at least at the speeds I run mine at. Looks cleaner but does not provide the flow of one on the left & one on the right. |

That could just depend on the substrate. I am using special grade and I have not had that issue. I run mine on reefcrest with 90% max intensity.
