Coral Banded Shrimp Reef Safe?

Want to know before I buy. There is a mated pair locally for $22. Along with a chromis for $6.

I've never had any problems with them as far as corals are concerned. It can be a different story with snails, small fish, and other shrimp though. As long is there is enough room to go around you should be ok.

I totally agree with cloak. They are very striking in a tank and aways impress guests when they come over.

They are predatory and will try and go after small fish and shrimp, fortunately any healthy fish will be able to swim away. Small shrimp don't stand a very good chance.

I had a coral banded shrimp along with a cleaner and fire shrimp in my old 90 and they all got along. The coral banded would try and snap at the cleaner but the cleaner was too fast.

Watch out for your hermit crabs if you have any. I've caught my coral banded shrimp eating them. One time he was eating a poor hermit crab alive.

They have a rep for being a bit mean, especially to other shrimp or slow moving critters, even fish if they aren't paying attention.

I've had mine for around 4 years. He seamed fine. I've had other shrimp with him and he never appeared to catch them. But, more and more I think he's been the reason my small gobies have disappeared. I've tried to remove him, but without ripping the tank appart, I can't get him. He does look neat, but I wouldn't get another.

I have had a mated pair od Gold CB for 6 months now and have never seen them act aggressive towards anything in my tank. Unfortunately they only come out at night. Haven't had anything go missing in my 120gal since i've had them. But again, not all shrimp are the same!

I have found that when they are paired, they are much less aggressive.

Hey jgoodrich71 can I get one of those stickers for my wife? I decided to not go with them for now. On a good note I found aiptasia growing in my sump that has no light.

I had a mated pair for 4 yrs without a problem. Never went after my snails hermits or my other shrimp. I kept them well fed with brine shrimp. They loved it

the male is probably less aggressive, since the female doesnt let him go out much, just like marriage.

LOL @ NYCBOB. Probably correct.

I have a single one in my 120G and he has been on good behavior for a year or so.
