Algae Question....Coraline?
1. I have what appears to be emerald colored algae growing on one rock. It is exactly like coraline algae, only emerald in color. I also have a few patches of the same stuff that is maroon to red in color and another rock as some of same stuff that is brown. I also have a few splotches of what almost looks like neon orange spots on one rock. Any ideas if any of this is bad? I have a 90 gal, no nitrates, minimal # of fish..skimmer, sump, T5 lighting.

Best way is to take a pic and post. It can be the less common green coraline, or it can also just be early GHA.
I have several areas of emerald green coraline, as well as blue-green ones, in addition to the usual purple and red. You can give it some time and see. Look at it sideways later, and if it starts looking "furry", it's probably GHA. If it starts to spread plaque-like and hard with no "fur", then it's probably coraline.

Coraline can grow in several different shades, green, pink, purple, maroon...the pink/purple being the most common.

Someone with an old tank correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't bright green corraline become the pink and purple stuff soon after the green phase.

My tank already is full of coraline..on the back and side glass, on all the rock (I got a lot of my rock from another reefer, so it was already covered). Just recently did I notice the newer colors (they are quite cool looking actually).

Yup, coraline of any color is cool. Some people don't like coraline. I like the varying colors and shades it gives the rocks. I've got green, purple, red, all in varying shades, even neon green. Not so sure about what you called neon orange, though. I think that may be sponge or a developing 'shroom. I've got those, too, in that color.
