Film in my sump

I got a white film on top on my sump water. Looks like I might have an oil substance on top also. Any ideas what is causing this?

its just a bio film that forms. You would have it in your DT also but it gets moved to your sump through surface skimming in you over flow. You can try to ski it out during you water changes.
And by the way it is oil

add a small powerhead to your sump blowing the water toward the surface.

DOC's - disolved organic compounds. Surface agitation will keep it from forming and will allow it to be taken care of by the skimmer.

I don't tend to get the film on my refugium side, only the return side. I added a Koralia nano pump in my skimmer to help agitate the surface.

I agree on surface agitation. That film also prevents O2/CO2 gas exchange, so just use a small pump pointed at the water surface.
