Skimmer Upgrade Time. Need advice on Vertex Skimmers

Hi All,

I got the go ahead from the wife to upgarde my skimmer. It only took two times of overflowing and covering the floor with water to make up her mind... I thought it would take at least three times LOL. Currently using an SWC 160 Extreme. Great skimmer, but just not enough for my new tank, and the Sicce pump is a bit touchy on restart sometimes.

Anyway, I am considering a few different skimmers for my tank, but the Vertex line caught my eye. I am running a 170 gallon total water volume SPS heavy stocked reeftank, so I was eyeballin the Vertex IN 250 or 280 Gen II.

A Couple questions for those who might know....

What pump comes stock with the Gen II's? I here Resun's are junk. Were they replaced?

What were the other changes/upgrades with the Gen II's?

Anyone have any pros or cons with these skimmers?

Also considering Reef Octo 200 Extreme, Bubble Magus BM200, and AquaEuro PS250.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

actually gen 3 is out now, the problem was the shaft which was fixed after the gen 1 make sure if you get the vertex that it is the gen 3 and they dont send you left over stock of the gen 2 and id go with the 280 just because less head height and bigger body, ive owned 3 vertex's now and love them, had the in180 twice, just to big for my tank and currently run a gen 3 in100
