Fish poop, the best coral food compared too...
Im looking to feed all sorts of corals (sps, lps, Z's, P's). The system is about 40 gallons total volume, with a 150 gallon rated skimmer and i will be using someones solid carbon source pellet for bacteria based filtration.
I like the idea of a bunch of fish getting fed, then pooping randomly...effectively feeding all my corals at different times through the day/night. But i dont want to go that route if feeding something like Coral Frenzy on a daily basis or a set schedule would be more effective. I hear it all the time, fish poop is the best coral food. But for someone like me, with my goals is this a good fit?

I hope it never catches on, I like having the oldest tank on here and I don't have to worry about calcification, bio pellets, Vodka dosing, DSBs, Chaetomorpha (I don't even know what that is) Carbonite hardness and all of these other things many people worry about. If I had to think about all of that stuff I would get a stroke. My test kit came in a wooden box and the directions say to keep in a cool chariott. I throw some food in the tank, wave hello to the fish and go out with my wife and have a nice glass of merlot with dinner. Have a great day but most of all, have fun. -PaulB Current Tank Info: 27 Gallon DAS softy/fish reef |

I love coral frenzy, but im trying to keep the tank as low maintenance as possible. If i have to run down there to feed every other day, it will be killing my low maintenance goal lol

Fish poop is not the best coral food. All of the nutrients have been stripped. On a real reef corals are consuming larvae, eggs, plankton, etc. If you really want somethign easy just add amino acids or rotifers when you feed your fish.

While i agree by our standard poop is not desirable, i have seen several top propagators claim fish poo is the best way to go as far as coral foods.
