Reef Octopus Water Blaster vs. Eheim pump
I'm in the market for a good return pump. I ran an Eheim 1260 on my 90g a couple years ago and was always happy with it. I figured I'd pick up another one (or a 1262) to replace it, but saw that the relatively new Water Blaster pumps are very efficient and in some reviews, just as silent as Eheim. The 3 year warranty is also encouraging. I had an Octopus NW-150 skimmer with an OTP pump (same brand?) as well and I was happy with it for a year and a half before I sold the entire tank.
What do you say - worth trying the latest craze for efficieny and quietness or go with the known workhorse, even if it'll cost me a bit more to operate? |

I bought a Water Blaster HY-7000 for my new tank for some of the reasons you described--efficiency, quietness, and 3-year warranty. I haven't had a chance to put it to use yet, since I'm waiting for tank delivery. But the sister product for the Octopus skimmers--Bubble Blasters--have been highly regarded.
