What can too much light do?

What can too much light do? in a reef tank with softies. can there be any damage or bleaching?

20 gal tall. 250W MH 12k Right now im running it 6 hrs a day

how high the fixture above the tank?
you are are the realm of alot of light, but not too much light -- depending what you are intending to keep.

Its in my canopy, I would say the bulb is about 6 inches from the water. I think a RBTA would be the only thing that would need high light. I may add some rics, sun coral but those don't need light really, some acans, and one acropora maybe.

Here is my tank so far.. Right now I have: Candy Canes, Xenia, Mushrooms, Montipora Digitata, some zoas.
