Group buy for Apogee MQ-200 Par meter.

Like the title says, who would be intrested in getting the Apogee MQ-200?
I saw in another group of reefers thread they got about 1/3 of the amount off. Instead of paying $325-$350 they paid $235 dont know how many we have to be. But I imagine it would take a phone call, to see how many we would have to purchase to get this discount.
I am getting one soon no matter what, But if there are any other folks who are contemplating this as well, lets getter done. Lets use this thread, then we can start getting are ducks in a row via phone and in person. Thank you all. Chefesteban76@msn.com I am a full time caterer/Executive Chef/owner/reef fanatic anyone intrested with money in hand email me. Lets not waste each others time email me if really interested only.

Shoulda posted this two days ago and you would have had me on board too, but alas, I have placed my order.

I pondered the group buy angle as well, but their minimum order for the price break is 20 units, and I don't have the money to front that big of a purchase, nor did I want to do the dance of getting everyone to pony up.

It is quite possible that the other group buy was an older model as well. They recently ran out of back stock of old models and now just have the current MQ-200 available.

20% off if you buy 20. That's a lot of PAR meters.

The hater is right 20=20% off 80=35% off. Just got off the phone with them. 80 probably won't be likely and my Amex might cover that but I wouldn't want that many ones and fives from folks so first 20 to respond gets a 20% of meter! Only serious responses please.

Wait wait wait...telling you exactly what you want to know is hating? That's a new one. I was trying to be helpful...not sure how you got that I was raining on your parade. 20 units IS a lot of PAR meters...it's like $6,000. The only reason I chimed in is because I had talked all this over with Apogee when I placed my order the day before you posted.

Also, since we are apparently being jerks now, you may want to check your math. The 20 unit price break goes up to 79 units, so the first 79 people get 20% off.

Good luck with your group buy.

Just so you know they calibrate them under T-12s and as a result will be off. They also measure PAR from like around 300nm to 700nm and anything before 400 is kinda cheating IMO. The bluer the light the more of a discrepancy you will see.
Ask them to calibrate the meters to T-5 or halide as they can do this it just costs more. Also if you are using it for LEDs your numbers will be very skewed as well as they are not made for that light.
Good luck with the group buy.

??? UVA is utilized for photosynthesis.

Not sure where you got your data from, but Apogee's budget PAR meters are close enough for our purposes to the Li-cor $2000 per unit equivalent. As far as calibration is concerned, photons are photons. See this article: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/7/review/

Randy, Randy always can count on you getting spunky, lol.
But seriously, of course the 79 would get that discount but not gonna deal with 20k $ in cash. If people are in just write in this thread. I would like to do the 20.

Well, i didnt really see that Randy's message was not negative or in anyway out of line... Seems like he was just tossing out information he got just before you posted it...but as usual, i can see some folks are ready to jump the gun...

why are we so dang negative... have we been so screwed by so many people that we need to be defensively offensive????

Bickering makes baby Jesus cry.

C'mon guys, let's get on with the group buy, I'm interested. If it's close, I'll jump in to get us to 20.

Although right now I'm saving for my lights, but it sure would be nice to get a shiny new toy.

How about we buy one and share it! LoL.
