Bubble-Magus NAC7
I received my new BM Nac7 last Friday. It worked really well, but not as quiet as all the reviews that I have seen. But, I was happy with the performance.
I came home last night to the skimmer not working. I took it apart, and the impeller was broken. I slapped in the extra impeller, and nothing. The pump will not spin the impeller once I place the lid over the impeller. It works without the lid on it, but that is useless. I assume the pump got hurt in the incident, and I need a new pump. So, I ordered from a place that explicitly says: deal with the manufacturer. They are in China, and it will take weeks to get anything done with them. So, I need to order a new Atman 2500. I understand the ViaAqua Powerhead VA2600 is an exact replacement. Ok, I found one of those. Does anyone know where to get a mesh impeller for the VA 2600 or Atman or whatever?

Check nuocean's website. I ordered my NAC6 from them a long time ago and the customer service is great. They sell replacement parts too IIRC.

i run the atman pump on my nac7 and its dead quiet... i get some disgusting skimmate too. no complaints about it yet but i have only had it for a couple months. performing well and quiet are a definite plus though.
to the OP sorry about your shipping luck. hopefully you dont have to deal with such poor service later. try and deal with a reputable company whenever possible. i ordered my nac7 from BRS which is a RC Sponsor I believe. Heck of a deal and very well packaged. |

Yes, BRS is excellent. I am a preferred customer. I called them, and they actually helped me on this, even though I did not order from them (I did not know they had the NAC7 when I ordered mine). I found out that they were even less expensive than the crummy place I ordered from. Oh well, live and learn.
I got my pump up and running again. I took out the ceramic washer (only one, seems like there should be 2?), and that gave the the room it needed for the impeller to turn. It is still loud and very annoying. I am thinking a new pump may help. Does any one have a picture of the insides of a VA2600? Does it have a two piece impeller so I can place the mesh impeller on the magnet like I do on the Atman 2500?

Get on the preferred customer list (write a review or participate in a group buy). It will save you 10%!

well rigth now it's in max but i have tried every adjustment and it still overflows lakie crazy. It was working fine a week ago and now i can't eve control it. The only way i can control it a little is if i put the pump intake next to the glass of the sump so that it restrict the flow of the pump. But if i move the skimmer a little bit it goes crazy again. I raised it to 6 1/2 inches and it still overflows. It looks like if the pump is too strong for the skimmer and it's an atman pump. Id though change the needle wheel a month a go to a pinwheel. But that was a month ago qnd it didin't give me any troulble. I really don't know what to do anymore it's a great skimmer but wat's wrong with it. Sorry for the long reply but i wanted to be thorough

Sounds like you have something in your water that is increasing surface tension. Did you add anything right before this happened? Some foods or additives will do this. I would run some carbon, polyfilter or ChemiPur to help clean the cause of this chemical that is effecting your water.

The epoxy will make your skimmer go crazy for a couple of days, but it should be fine after that. I would run carbon, et al. It will get the epoxy chemicals out of the water quicker.
