Help out my local public aquarium

I live near an aquarium that could really use a new exhibit. Pepsi refresh project has one on their site.

Here is the link. Please vote for t. Even though NYS has one of the highest if not the highest tax rate in the US they are cutting funding to zoo's, parks, schools, theaters, and of course aquariums. This aquarium does the best with what it has and the critters are well cared for, but the funding just is not there. So if Pepsi corp will provide the funding that would be great. Also they are going to add captive propagated corals so I am thinking of donating some if they will take them. My votes and a few corals is really all I can do to help. Thanks guys and gals.

When I read this post the first thing I thought about is when I brought my 2 year old son to an Aquarium in Houston. He got to see what I wanted my tank to look like. He ran around all day and could not get enough. I would love to vote for the cause but when I looked at the other groups the money could go to I could not cast my vote for the aquarium. We love going to them but there are other agencies that could use the money more. On the list of projects there was a group to help autism, special needs kids, cancer, and disabilities. I mean think about it these groups need more help than a local aquarium in a state with high taxes. If I had the choice I would have gave up the happiness my family had that day at the aquarium for the happiness of a group of special needs kids when they get to see their new playground.

If you really want to help there is more you can do than just cast a vote and donate a few corals. You can try to get your local and state Reps involved, or you can host fund raisers, the aquarium could try to get local business to sponser the exibit, it a tax deduction and free advertisment.

Sorry I could not help you out, I just had to voice my opinion.
