Aqualight High Output T5 Dual Lamp Light Fixture?
29gal with LR.
HOB Filter No 'fuge I'm looking for a light for my daughter's tank. She currently has LR and a few fish. She would like some mushroom corals and perhaps a nem in the long-term future. I'm sick of looking at lights. I just went through the ringer looking for bulbs on my tank. I'm thinking: Aqualight High Output T5 Dual Lamp Light Fixture - Double - 30 in. She would like moon lights but those add a scary amount of extra money. Thoughts? Opinions? And yes I read that big long crazy lights thread. ![]()

Let me try to save you some trouble. I recently had to choose a light fixture for my 20g long tank (also 30 inches long). My first thought was to get a 30" fixture then I realized there are a lot more bulbs available for 24" fixtures. I centered it on the tank and have no issue growing soft corals and low light LPS. I can't comment on the exact fixture you are interested in. I bought a NOVA Extreme T-5 HO dual lamp 24", I am very happy with it and my corals thrive under it. I wanted moonlights as well, I ended up buying an LED strip light on Ebay for like $40 which has worked well.

How did you mount it? I was considering the mounting legs similar to what I have on my Coralife hood.

I have a 1/4" thick acrylic lid that covers my entire tank, I let the fixture rest on the lid. So far the fixture hasn't caused the lid to warp. The main downside to this setup is I need to clean the condensation off of the inside of the lid at least once a week. If you choose to go this route you won't need to clean the lid as often since you'll be growing corals that don't need as much light as some of the corals I am growing.
I mainly went with the full lid on my tank because I keep my house colder than my tank so I use the lid to help trap heat.

You should hit up aquatraders and check out their line of 24" t5ho fixtures. THey even have legs that can extent to 30"s. They pretty much sell the exact same thing as coralife just without the name.
