Bulkhead and strainer overflow
Hello everybody. This is my first post at RC. I am planing a new aquarium and have overcome most of the issues since I have a good help from my more experienced friend.
I have read a lot about ussusal overflows, durso, etc,... However, I have recently came across this site, and was fascinated by a simplicity of this overflow. I would like to ask you about your experience with such an overflow. Is it silent? Is it safe? What dimensions should be used according to flow rate?.... Would you recomend? Links and advices would be very appreciated. Thank you Last edited by Dejko; 11/18/2010 at 07:41 AM. |

I have something similar but with homemade acrilic boxes on both sides. On the in tank side its just a surface strainer basket and on the out side is a wier box with a short standpipe in the bottom. it was simple, easy to build, relatively quiet and reliable. I also gives me a spot to add filter media. After work I'll post some pics. Oh and I goot all the parts at Home depot. I'malot more experienced now but I would still use this design in the future.
