Best place to buy plumbing parts
I have looked around for plumbing parts: Unions, valves, bulkheads, elbows. What would be a good place besides bulk reef supply to order these parts? I would like to go with Grey, but white is fine as well. I want all white or all grey.

Any ball valve should work. The thing that wears them out is the constant opening and closing of them, but that takes quite some time.

I got everything from Lowe's (except the bulkheads which I got at the LFS). I mounted the plumbing to the wall using standoffs so that I can get plenty of leverage on the ball valves. It's also a good idea to work the valves open and shut a bit before installing them just to break them in.
I only open and close my ball valves when I do water changes. |

I always use savko they have everything and the the hard to find black pvc fittings prices are good shipping is fast.

I painted all my PVC fittings black with Krylon Fuzion. Came out great.

Definitely agree with savko (www.savko.com). And feel I should point one thing out... if you're going to use the ball valves, get the good stuff. There is a night-and-day difference between a good ball valve and a cheap one from Lowes/Home Depot.
Also, you can't get true union ball valves from Lowes/HD, and I've never seen bulkheads there, either. -Scott

FWIW...BV's are not BV's. Most you find at HD or Lowe's...even the basic sch 40 that savko sells are very hard to turn. If the situation requires basically just on or off these are fine. However, the cepex line that BRS sells are VERY VERY easy to Turn. Plus they come with both slip and threaded fittings!
The GF compact BV at savko are TINY and work great where a small BV or easy turning/fine tuning of flow is wanted! Plus be sure to get true union BV's where needed....ie at external pumps...etc!

Oh...and anyone know where to get grey flex pipe other than flexpvc.com.
They require like 25' or 50' minimums and shipping is outrageous. Gracias!

I found that ACE hardware has a better PVC selection than Lowe's or HD. For Items I can't find at ACE or the LFS D&T aquarium supplies has a huge selection and the prices are low.

I'll also throw in the savko recommendation, they've always had the things I've needed and then some. I also agree with the notion that ball valves are good for on/off scenarios, but I would never try to control flow with them.
