Using A Reactor With No Pre-Filter

I ordered a BRS deluxe GFO/Carbon reactor to run their ROX carbon and granulated GFO. It should be here tomorrow. My question is will it be ok to run the maxi jet with no prefilter? I don't have a protein skimmer (it should be in sometime next week) or any other filter. Will the reactor to get all gunked up or should it be fine? I ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/AQUARIUM-SYSTE...0141115&sr=8-1 to use as a prefilter for the maxijet/reactor, but that wont be here until Tuesday and I really want to start using the reactor as soon as possible. So, do I need to wait until I get the pre-filter or am I ok using it with out for a few days? BRS says nothing about using a pre-filter on the pump btw. Thanks!
