Reef Tank with no fish...?
Just wondering if this can be done with no issues.
I'm looking to be creating a new tank for my office but just wanted to have corals. Are there any issues with this? |

Nope, no issues at all. I've had a reef with no fish. You will have to feed the corals though.

a nice soup of phytoplankton, rotifers and artemia would be good a lot of corals. Maybe some oyster eggs or cyclops too? Some of the larger polyped LPS corals would need meatier bits though.
What sort of corals are you considering?

lol,
mostly SPS, some LPS and softies at the bottom would the skimmer still need to be run. I would assume the tank stays cleaner or would that be wrong suggestion? |

Yes, still run the skimmer. There will be gunk, (coral poop, if you will), to remove.

I've run a fishless nano for a few years now. I do feed the tank some cyclopeze a couple of times a week. I also feed krill on a feeding stick to the giant bristle worms once a week.
Get a feeding frenzy going with two or three 12" bristle worms and nobody will ask why you don't have fish.

I've had several reef tanks with no fish in them. For quite a while, our 200g had no fish. A nice healthy reef can look great whether there are fish in there or not.

Tell your coworkers there ARE fish in there. It'll drive them crazy.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny,royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%. |

Mmmm...how do I resist Nemo? I had 2 mated Clarkiis with a carpet nem. Took up half the 100g tank, and the 4" long female had four teeth. She terrorized my damsels and a dottyback and bit me bloody so many times they finally got dealt to a breeder, and are probably the parents of every Clarkii in the SW. I saw their offspring in a 32 gallon tank, and they all had plans for world domination!
