Hello All, I'm NEW and Excited!

Hi everyone. I'm new to the hobby of salt water aquariums and reef tanks. I recently purchased a BioCube . . . . . . from Oceanic Systems. This small 29 gal. reef tank is my new hobby, and I may need some help from you kind folk to make it a success. I look forward to talking to all you smart people. /smile

Advice #3.) damsels aren't your friends. don't put them in your tank as a first fish (if you plan on having any other fish)

Advice #5.) invest in some good test kits and equipment. those dip strips are fine for simple freshwater tanks, but this is da big boys league! time fore some grown up test materials!

Welcome!

One trick to stocking a tank, especially of that particular size is choosing creatures which occupy different niches. Some fish like to perch on the rocks, some graze, some hang in the water column some sit on the sand. They tend to be intolerant of other fish who share the same type of real estate.

Marine truism #1:

Nothing good happens fast. Well, except overnight shipping. If you're not naturally patient, you had better learn to be. Take the time and spend the money to do things right the first time. That will save you countless hours of frustration and a good bit of money.

This is a great site, every problem you're likely to run into has been experienced before. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but be sure to make good use of the search function.

Good luck, saltwater tanks are awesome.
