Yellow Watchman acting crazy
Wednesday night I got a new Goby to replace my wheelers that jumped to his death, but anyways this thing is acting weird, yesterday I had to rescue him from the overflow 3 times. He barely sits on the bottom, and won't even look at any burrow, he mostly perches on the side of the tank near the top. He's eating good and seems to be breathing well any ideas why he won't settle down? I have a candy cane pistol in the tank that the wheeler was pre paired with, and am hoping the YMG would take the little wheelers place.
Tank params SG 1.025 Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 10-20 has been as high as 40, but before the YMG Temp 79-80 |

Probably because he's only been in the tank for two days.

Depending on the shrimps size, (so he doesn't get eaten) I would confine them together for a bit in a sump or another tank. This will help them find each other and maybe bond. Other than that, it has been my experience that you just have to wait it out until they find each other.

I guess my question wasn't totally clear, Im not too concerned about the pairing of the shrimp and goby at the moment, but more concerned about a bottom dwelling fish swimming in the middle and top of the water column and perching on the side of the tank, not the bottom. The wheelers went right to the bottom of the tank and found a little hole in the rock and stayed there until he tracked down his shrimp buddy. I guess I was expecting the YMG to do somewhat the same type of thing.

A few small width pvc fittings might provide more suitable hiding places for him, for the time being.
How did the other goby jump to his death? Why won't the new goby meet the same fate? Did the new goby go through QT? |

Sounds like you need a glass top, unless the goby is wider than 1/4 inch.
If he is, this might be useful: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...ing-7-x-3.html |

I 100% hate the glass on there, constantly trying to keep them clean. |
