EEK! Need Help!
Hello all, i'm not 100% positive on this but i think i found a single aiptasia in one of the caves in my tank. It freaks me out because i don't want more of them. My solution was to get 2 peppermint shrimps but my problem is i already have a cleaner shrimp. will they get along? thanks in advance everyone

they may get along and may not it is hard to say. also peppermint shrimp are a hit or miss with aptasia some will eat the smaller ones and some may not but they usually never go after the bigger aptaisia. you may want to try kalk paste, lemon juice, or boiling water 1st.

OMG!!!! You MUST now drain your tank give away all your corals and fish, BOIL all of your rock and leave your tank dry and useless for at LEAST 6 months!!!
J/K.....Seriously, ONE aiptaisia and you're freaking out? These don't spread like kudzu you know. It does take awhile for them to spread. Get a Peppermint or two. My Peppermints got along just fine with my Cleaners. My Coral Bandeds...not so well. Get one or two Peppermints and problem solved.

IMO use Aiptasia-X or Joe's Juice first. If it still comes back, then I'd get a shrimp.

maybe i am going a bit far, but i've always been anti-aiptasia lol. i'll try the boiling water trick tomorrow and post up some more info. The reason i'm not so sure if its an aiptasia is that its in the sand bed up against a rock, and it also looks like it has a striped pattern. weird

I had pretty good luck with lemon juice in a hypodermic needle, my only problem now is that im too lazy to nuke em all, and so begins my aiptasia infestation.
On the other hand, if your looking for an attractive animal to rid you of the hassle, every time my LFS gets racoon butterflies, they put them in the coral tanks (which are always infested with the darn things) and by the time the fish are sold the aiptasia are gone
