sump setup
are there any good links for instructions on turning an old aquarium into a sump with a refugium? about all i have seen so far is to silicone some plexiglas in the aquarium and thats it. i cam across a 20gal that i want to convert.

Thats kind of all there is to it. There are two main ways of doing things. The traditional is Skimmer - Fuge - Return, with the newer style being Skimmer - Return - Fuge. The second method has the benefit of being able to make a much deeper fuge which will be more effective. You feed the fuge by "t"ing off the return line with a ball valve to control flow, while the first method just has the water overflow from the skimmer to the fuge and then to the return, with each section getting shorter.
