ro water system help

i have a new premium aquatics pr-ro 100gpd 3 stage ro system.. i think i have everything hooked up right. it is hooked to the sink... the problem is that i have a very strong stream of water from the waste water line and a very slow trickel from the good line... i would waste A LOT of water to get 5 gal of good water is this normal ...... can anyone help

I am not much help but why not call or email Premium Aquatics and ask them for help? They are super people and very willing to help out. I've had great service from them. (Not much help because my RO/DI unit it coming in today's deliveries...).

A lot of factors can contribute to the amount of waste water to clean water but an average RO/DI unit without a booster pump creates about 1 part clean water to 4 parts bad water. If this is the kind of ratio you are seeing then it's normal. If it's worse than 4:1 you may want to give Premium Aquatics a call.

even at 4 to 1 that is too much waste.... that is not economical what do you do with the waste water..

4:1 is normal for standard RO. High efficiency systems or double membrane systems can achieve closer to 1:1 but are more expensive.

Many people try to put the waste water to use, like filling the washing machine with it for laundry.

Nobody ever said RO filtration systems were economical, so you might want to remove that idea from your head

This is not an economical issue and the hobby is by its nature not economical. I (you) can use the waste water to water plants, water your dog, fill water balloons, etc.

Check your water pressure, you may need a booster pump. Also, make sure the membrane flush valve (if you have one) is in its correct position.

My waste water goes right down the drain. It's a pita to try and use waste water for something else.

Mine goes down the drain into a ditch full of weeds behind my house. I feel I'm doing my part by watering the weeds

mine is next to the washer...enough said.also water for plants,ect. there's a thread about this somewhere just can't remeber where.
