How many stages is the unit? The biggest thing is to get a tds meter(total dissolved solids) and test the water you make. Mine comes out at about 12-17. Normal tap water is around 150(at least around here). I use a brs ro unit and like it alot.

put it this way.. if you want low phosphate in your tank you are going to need a DI unit
if your water has any phosphates in it and i bet it does.

do yourself a favor and just get a DI unit also...

after spending all that dough.. and if you do not have a 0 tds reading plus the knowledge
the water was polished off with a DI unit... it was not worth doing it half way.

Spectrapure sells the di add on kits. They also sell the max cap 90 ro/di for only $249 to RC members. Their units use 2 di stages with the first stage being a standard like mixed bed and the second is called a silica buster.

you can check your tap water for phosphates with a phosphate test kit that can do fresh
and salt water.

you can buy a DI kit and add it to any RO system.

i have to question if you really need a 100 GPD ro unit though. Why not a 50 to save some
money?

For less then 150 dollars you can get a complete kit.. ro/di 50 gpd. a link to show what
i mean.
(i could save you even more money by getting a generic no name brand.. but here is the
brand i use)
http://www.opentip.com/Pet-Supplies/...p-1081775.html
i bought mine for a wicked cheap price when a LFS went out of business.
