controlling Vortechs with aquasurf ??

can this be done ? i found this on utube of a guy that did this to his.

here is the video.
can this be done with the controller that they have out now. i have the ones that dont have the dial, just the led lights on the side of the controller.
if this cant be done is there another way you can control them from the AC3.

there is a thread on reef central on how to do it. you'll have to do a search. i think its called aquasurf your vortech

would there be any other way to do this just with the AC3 controller like the tunze pumps and have various settings?
just a thought.
or will you still have to do the mod to the Vortech controller.
