Talking Bristle Worms/Coral

Hi everyone, I just got a 14 gallon biocube and im looking to buy live rock for the new tank. Im moving two clowns over and I want to know is their a way to prevent bristle worms in a new tank. Also, I might get some coral in the future. What do you need for that other then switching to instant ocean reef crystals?
Thanks

First, why do you prevent them. They're good scavengers.

I use IO in my reef. Depending on the corals you want to keep, you have to test for Alk, Cal, and Mag, along with Sg and ph.

There are many advantages of "having worms"; they help clean up wastes and uneaten food, in turn becoming food for your livestock. Through their tunneling through the substrate, worms prevent clogging and channeling, helping keep you water clean and clear. As you'll find in pursuing "wormy" matters, worms can also be of service to the marine aquarist as bio-indicators, ornament and more.
Besides, there isn't much you can do about getting them; Dear Reader, you've got worms! Or soon will have. No sense copping a denial plea with me. Many worms are microscopic as young, adults; some nearly transparent. look closely at any system that's been set up for a while, they are there.

I told an extremely knowledgeable friend that I use Reef Crystals. He said I don't really need to spend the extra $ on it and Instant Ocean is just as good. If my corals need it, add a little buffers to the water. I forget exactly what he said, but it was along the lines of alk or calc addition or something like that. Unfortunately, I found this out after I just bought 2 200g boxes of Reef Crystals!

To Reef Central

I agree that bristle worms generally are good to have. If you want to avoid them, you could use all dead rock.

I don't know about that, but they really are a good part of your clean-up crew.

They are good in any amount, because they mop up overfeeding of your tank. If you have way too many, you're overfeeding (or have brand new rock). Their population adjusts to the tank.
