Nano sump with Skimmer Filter Media

Hello, I'm new to reef tank hobby. I've been using external canister filter & wood stone skimmer with my 25 gal tank. Canister tank holds about 3 liter of ring type filter media.

I just purchased below hang-on type sump with built in skimmer. Now I’m wondering what type of media to fill the two separate sump area. Is it ok to use media out of canister filter? I have 6 small fishes and a few soft coral in the tank.

That thing is cool, great for nanos. Where did you get it?

Oh and I would put in activated carbon and a phosphate remover like SeaChem Phosguard or ROWAPhos in two separate media bags.

Canisters aren't entirely bad. They're good for running carbon, in fact I think Randy Holmes Farley uses one just to run carbon, as do I. What kind is it?

I got it used from someone. I believe previous owner may have special order from some acrylic fabricator. Basically overflow box contains needle wheel pump which pushs the bubble to the skimmer chamber. Following the chamber, there are two media chamber. Between chambers there are small slot for heater.
