skimmer help
Ok i need some help because my brain is fried from reading about protein skimmers for the past 3 days straight.
I have had the old petsmart sea-clone 100 for 2 years now. it is a consistent skimmer but needs adjustment all the time and just doesnt pull enough funk out. i have a 55 gallon DT with a 20 gallon sump/fuge. i am now worried that i have developed an interest in SPS corals that the current skimmer cant keep up with the bio load to maintain water quality for the sps. Live stock include a very hungry lion fish, a small yellow tang, a green chromis, and a mandarin dragonette. Everything else is corals. Unfortunately there is almost not enough room for me to even put my hand in my sump so that rules out any in-sump style protein skimmers so im stuck with an external or HOB skimmers. given the price of the external skimmers i am pretty much limited to HOB skimmers haha i have been looking at; octopus BH-1000 ($160.00 i like this price) http://www.reefspecialty.com/virtuem...n-skimmer.html AquaMaxx HOB-1 ($199.99) http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/cat...oducts_id=6959 or the aquac remora pro my head really hurts so any one with experience, recommendations, or insight please lend me a hand |

I might have one of those.. I'll check and give you a deal if I do. That way w/shipping it'll still be cheap

The AquaMaxx HOB-2 Hang-On-Back Skimmer should be coming out some time soon. They are in the process of changing some design flaws. If it were me i would wait a little longer and get the AquaMaxx HOB-2 Hang-On-Back Skimmer. http://www.aquamaxxaquariums.com/Aqu..._Skimmers.html

Yea but I really need to replace the seaclone now. I also doubt the hob-2 will be 199$ which better fits my budget

the Aquamaxx is made by the same as warner marine skimmers were. The Aquamaxx skimmer is one of the better HOB skimmers out. Same as the h1 and h2

I'd like to get a WM h1 because of the round reaction chamber, but you can't find them anymore. Looks like I'm ordering the hob-1 when I get home unless someone has one used
