Water

What is better for the tank while doing a water change. Ocean water or Salt mix with RO filtered water. What is an excellent salt mix. Also is it better to do 20% all at 1 time once a month or 5% each week

Ocean water is ideal if you have access to it, but the logistics behind using it can be a bit rough. Filtered water mixed with any salt mix will do the job nearly the same. There is a synthetic sea salt thread here on RC that is loaded with useful information...check it out before you figure out which salt mix you're going to use.

As for the water change, generally speaking 5%-10% per week is a great plan, and will surely help keep your tank looking nice.

RO/DI water with Reef Crystals for the past 10 years.
RO/DI water with Instant Ocean for 7 years prior to that.

Aboot 5-10% per week.
