T5 Help

When i upgraded from a 58g to a 120g i switched from halide to t5. I have the original tek 8x54 fixture. I'm using the mounting legs for this light at the there max height and i'm frying corals on the sand bed. I cant move anything around without them bleaching. My lighting period is probably a little long. 10hrs for 4 bulbs, 7 for all 8.

Here is my bulb config:
ATI blue+
Geissman pure actinic+
Fiji Purple
ATI aqua blue special
Geissman midday
Geissman Actinic+
ATI aqua blue special
Geissman actinc+

That is a lot of white bulbs for me personally but doubt that is the problem.

I would shorten your photo period down to 3-4 hours with all bulbs on and maybe set dusk/dawn around 8 hours for now.

Keep in mind that with T5, the coral is getting light from every direction now. Not a single point source like MH. Corals need time to adapt to the extra light.

I would also look at water params though. You might need to feed a little heavier.

I have the same fixture over my 120 gal and I started with half time of lighting period at the beginning, each week I added 1 hr until I reached full lighting period.Right now my dusk/down is 10AM-10PM and all bulbs are on 12PM-8PM. All corals are doing great.

The tank has been up for 4 months now, even when i move stuff on the frag at the bottom of the tank stuff will get ****ed off and bleach. I don't know if I need to mount the hood higher? Its at the max height for the legs, 8" above the water. Do i need to go higher?
