SRO 3000 Skimmer
I recently bought one of these as I will be going to either a 180 or 210g tank.Beast of a skimmer but the water exiting the skimmer is loud. Can you partially sumerge the tee without a problem I figure if I can run the tee half in and half out this should reduce the noise vastly.

I have an SRO 3000 as well and I run my Tee half in and half out of the water. I have also seen people put a second tee on and point one end up and the other end submersed in order to quiet noise down. The problem is you will probably have to sand a piece of pipe down to make it fit into the factory PVC fittings as the factory fittings are metric I think.

I was looking for a 90 but can't find any on line. What depth are you running yours at. Mine is 7.5" and the gate valve probably at 70-80% closed. Thinking about lowering it to 8"

Mine's at 8 inches and it's still on the loud side, but not as loud as 7.5 inches. I'm going to try and fit a tee on there to help quiet it down.
FWIW I love the way the skimmer works, but my BB3000 pump has a quite a hum. I can hear the thing throughout my house at night. That combined with the water flowing out, uhgg... I'm gonna have to soundproof my stand or something |

Has anyone cut the nipple down to lower the tee? After three days of running I have salt spray everywhere under my cabinet. I tried flexpvc but they emailed back that they have no metric pvc fittings.

Follow up. I spoke with Mike at RS and he came up with the solution. A 1.25" PVC TEE fits in the outlet tee perfect. No nipple. Drilled a 1/4" hole into the top of the tee and no more noise or splashing. He also said you could use a tee with about a three inch nipple with a pipe cap on top of the nipple drilled. Thanks Mike

What about the noise from the pump? I've solved the discharge splash noise using a tee, but the pump (Bubble Blaster 3000) is very loud. Any suggestions on how to quiet these things down?
