Kalk Reactor

I am thinking about getting a Geo Kalk reactor for my 75 gallon. For those of you who have one, how often does new media need to be added? Also, how often does it need to be taken apart and cleaned?

I think it's awesome. I find the media will last me twice as long as it does with a drip method, and I can get a much better PH out of it. I can get almost 2 weeks before adding more kalk. It'll say to clean it out once a month, if I remember correctly. I find it pretty easy to maintain. I just unscrew the top lid, leave it in place with the hoses. Unplug it and yank the rest of it over to my big tub and just give it a quick wipe in and around to get rid of as much old kalk residue as I can. I don't bother with the maxi jet. I've been going now over a year with no problems with my maxi jet malfunctioning. But there are others who've had to buy a few replacement pumps and impellers. I think it'll depend on how much kalk someone intends to use in relation to their tanks size. I'm on a 120g system, so I'm certain you'll be using less then me and get really good results with it...

I have a TLF kalk stirrer and it works great for keeping my PH up and stable since I'm also using a calcium reactor and this is on my 90 sps.
