What type of "carpet" ?? There are 3 main types, S. Haddoni, S. gigantea, and S. mertensii. Though, S. mertensii isn't all that common, at least not here in the States.
I have S. Haddoni in 2 of my tanks, which are mixed SPS tanks. The difficult part is getting the flow right, since S. Haddoni are not fans of a lot of flow -- which SPS are. The one good thing is that S. Haddoni are sandbed dwelling anemones, so it makes it easier to adjust the flow. Haddonis can/will get very large -- over 2 feet in diameter, so not a good choice for smaller tanks. In addition they can/will catch/eat your fish, more so then any other anemone. Lastly, if a frag or any coral come into contact with an S. Haddoni, it will lose. Though, oddly enough I have had clams touch mine without issue.
