trash cans for water storage

I bought two 32g trash cans today, one for pure and the other for mix, I didn't realize they were recycled post consumer cans. Great idea for the enviroment but what about keeping water in them?
Thanks

Who makes them?

I have two 32g Rubbermaid brutes that have worked well for the last few years.

Rubbermaid Brute trash cans are recommended due to thier 'food grade' rating (leaching) and strength. Not all containers are able to handle the weight of being filled with water.

After reading numerous posts both here and on other forums I found people recommended the brute grey or a container which was marked with a number 2 for hdpe. I picked up a 45 gal ( sounds similar to yours) at walmart for under $20 to hold my RO water. It's sturdy when full and cheaper than the brute; plus it has large secured wheels.

some brute cans are food grade others are not- i suggest you look to their site for what colors mean what. I personally use their food grade white cans- which are not cheap.

Grey yellow and white are food grade by brute.
