copper banded butterfly, nice looking fish and an aptasia killer. in two weeks he cleaned a 180gal of a serious infestation, now i grow it in the fuge on rubble and drop him in a piece every now and then.

Use Aiptasia x and turn your lights off for at least 2-3 days.

Pepermint Shrimp worked for me

My aptasia were left too long and grew everywhere. I dropped one pepermint shrimp in my 150g and can't find any aptasia anywhere. Note that he has only been in the tank for less than a week and ate them all.

What about large Aptasia. will CBs take care of them? I have a 90g with a fair amount of these monsters! Bought 6 peppermints 6 weeks ago and they don't touch them. I really don't want to go in and manually remove them. I am moving the tank in about a month any suggestions how to treat the rocks while I move them?

Best way i have found is Joes juice if its a coral tank and suck up the excess paowder after like 15 minutes just make sure u turn off all movement in the tank. If its not a reef Coral banded is great. I have also used liquid calcium and prime water conditioner is all else fails ill will just scrub the hell out of the rock. After the large ones are taken care of peppermints should take care of any babys that might be left behind rocks or anywhere else.

peppermints will eat them, no matter what the size...apparently, the nudis do as well. There are videos online showing peppermints eating the stuff...very cool.

I keep peppermints in my tank...good to have around.

As far as filefish goes, they are not always reef friendly...this can be a matter of concern! However, filefish are very cool looking if you get a mellow one (no way to know)...

I was fortunate enough that I only had a couple of them. Once they moved to a rock that I could grab and take out, I squirted them with boiling water. Put the rock back in the tank and never saw one again.

Klein's Butterflyfish is the best solution I have ever had up to this date. They will pick at fleshy LPS and nip at SPS, but other than that, they take the aiptasia out very well. They are safer than Raccoon Butterflyfish and not difficult to keep like Copperband Butterflyfish.

Kalk and other "products" tend to cause the aiptasia to spread like wildfire in my experience. Berghia are expensive and don't work well in larger tanks, they thrive in lower flow tanks that are smaller, but when the aiptasia are gone they die off. Peppermints work for smaller anemones, but they need to be kept hungry and you need a LOT of them for larger tanks. The zapper looks interesting and I was entertaining it before I got these two Klein's.

The large anemone, you'll have to deal with. However, the part about needing a lot of them for a large tank is false. I have 1 Peppermint and he cleans out my whole 175g tank of anemone.

They're being too well fed with what you'e putting in the tank, most likely...I have probably about 5 now in my 92 and they cleaned out a recent aiptasia bloom in no time!

I respectfully disagree
